Fay Walker Obituary

Fay Moeur Walker
1938 ~ 2014
Fay Moeur Walker was an incredibly vibrant woman. She lived a full life as a dog breeder, handler, traveler, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Fay was born on December 3, 1938 in Phoenix, Arizona to Benjamin Baker Moeur and Herma Cable Moeur. Her grandfather, Dr. Benjamin Baker Moeur, was the fourth governor of Arizona and her other grandfather, Herman W. Cable was a founding father of the 3M Corporation. In her young adult life, Fay enjoyed riding her horse, modeling, and doing outdoor sports. She married her first husband, James H. Riddle, in 1958, and had two children, James H. Riddle II and Tracy A. Blenker (Riddle).
Forever an animal lover, Fay was heavily involved in dog showing and breeding. Over the years, she showed many dogs and made champions out of many Brittanys. She loved being on the road with her dogs and her show partner and granddaughter, Danielle Blenker. One of the highlights of her showing career was receiving a first place in the "Bred By" competition at Westminster.
In 1984, Fay married her second husband, David W. Walker, who shared her love for dogs and horses. Together, they toured the United States and competed in field trials. On their off seasons, the couple lived in New Plymouth, Idaho where they bred Brittanys and raised Tennessee Walkers. Fay had a special way with dogs, and they loved her almost as much as she loved them.
Fay had the kind of strength many wish they had—setting her own broken arm, driving thousands of miles hauling fifth wheel trailers to trials, and birthing puppies better than any vet—but she was classy, too. She was a lover of stained glass, a seamstress of beautiful clothes, and could make Christmas caramels and chili rellenos that were blue-medal worthy. Mama Fay, as she was known by many, had more friends in her life than a person could expect. She cared deeply about everyone—even strangers—and will be sorely missed.
Fay M. Walker passed away on January 28, 2014 from complications after a fall. There will be a memorial celebration Saturday, June 28, 2014 at her daughter's home. She is survived by her husband, David W. Walker; her daughter, Tracy A. Blenker; her sister, Nina Gammons; her granddaughter, Danielle E. Blenker; her niece, Inger Lukens; and her great-niece and nephew, Kaarin Ramer and David Lukens.

I've known Fay so long I don't remember when or where I met her but it must have been a dog show! I was one that always called her Mamma Fay. The love she had in her heart exuded from her when ever you were near. She will be missed by so very many people. Having just learned of her passing, I'm still in shock at the news. My prayers for healing go to the family. You will never get over the loss but you will learn to live with it and get through it. When my father died I thought my world had come to an end. Just remember, they are never farther away from you than your heart. Hugs and love to all.

I received word today of Fay's passing and am sadden for your loss. I met Fay and Dave after driving 13 hrs to their home to pickup a puppy. I was received as if I were an old friend and they went out of their way to welcome me into their home. Fay was a beautiful woman with a giant heart. I'll never forget the brief time I spent with her as she shared her stories and tips for training my new pup. My deepest condolences to your family.

I met Fay in 2000 at my first field trial and my first memory of her was a vivacious lady with so many experiences to share. We spent hours talking about dogs. After I moved to Idaho it was always a pleasure seeing Fay and she would share photos and stories of dogs I only knew by name. She treated my daughter with kindness and her ability to mentor her was amazing. She was always so generous with her time and donations to the Brittany community. Her love for her family was evident in all she did, and her Granddaughter Danielle is a shining example of Fay's legacy. My deepest condolences to Dave and the rest of her family on their loss. Fay was a true gem, and will be missed.

I was shocked upon learning of Fay's passing when I returned home last week. She was a classy lady and fun to visit with. Always willing to answer my questions concerning the show world. When ever I would train on Dave and Fay's place I would always have a good visit with her.

I will miss Fay Walker. I met Fay in 1976 when I married her niece, Inger. We have had three Brittanys from Fay and Dave, the current one being Charlie--all great bird dogs. Fay had a wealth of Brittany knowledge that we tapped over 38 years and our eight dogs. She gave me a room and fed me on my first chukar excursions to Idaho. We had a lot of fun visiting her over the years in their winter training camps in the Arizona desert as well as at the Walker Plantation. It was always fun and never boring! Fay would give you the shirt off her back, as well as a piece of her mind, if you needed it. She was the busiest person I ever met--I don't think I ever saw her sit down for more than a minute. Fay was a character and had character in the best way possible. I will miss her.
