Beverly J. Konovsky (nee Glasgo)
age 83 of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 after a short illness. Bev was born in Millersburg on June 16, 1930 to the late Willis and Nellie Glasgo. Beverly was a longtime resident of Lake Cable. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul; sister, Helen Ortez; sister and best friend, Dorothy Lappin, who just recently passed. To her friends and family, she was involved, loving, supportive, and generous.
She will be greatly missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Karen, Lon, Don and Chris, of Jackson Twp.; grandchildren, Johnnie (Hope) Konovsky, Kelly (Charles) Schrader, Donnie (Franki) Konovsky, Kyle (Melissa) Konovsky, Mallory Konovsky; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Addison Konovsky, Charlie Schrader; brother, Bill (JoAnn) Glasgo of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Bev is also survived by an extended family; two very special men and their families, Roy Haas and his son, Jordan, Kurt Clark and his wife, Jan and their children, Caysie, Tarah, Kristin, and Teague. They have been caregivers for her son, Lon for 30 years. Bev was an exemplary woman who accomplished so much in her lifetime, especially for the developmentally disabled. Her son, Lon and his future well-being was her inspiration. Bev served many years on the ARC Board where she made lifetime friends with other parents and friends of the developmentally disabled. They brought about the schools and workshops that exist in Stark County. In 1976, she and a few others formed the Siffrin Residential Association to give adults an independent lifestyle. That same year, Governor James Rhodes appointed her to the Developmental Disabilities State Planning Council. Bev served as a President for Siffrin from 1983-1989. She also received the Junior League of Stark County Volunteer of the Year Award. Bev was an avid bridge player who enjoyed all her friendships made in various bridge clubs and was most proud of becoming a Silver Life Master.
