Dorothy (Steffen) DiPietro
of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 following complications of Parkinson's Disease. Dottie graduated from Timken High School in 1956. She was a longtime resident of Canton. Dottie was a lifelong hairdresser, including operating several hair salons in Canton (Colonial House of Beauty, Ron-Karl Hair Salon) and Fredericksburg, Va. (C-Street Salon). She was beloved to all who knew her and to those who were lucky enough to know her generous, thoughtful nature and kind heart. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Grace Hamilton, and her brother, Ronald Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, John DiPietro; her children, Melanie (Jeff) Umlauf of Canton and John (Kari) Steffen of Denver, N.C.; grandchildren, Chad, Lydia and Marisa Umlauf, Claire and Grace Steffen; and many nieces and nephews.
Local calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Christ Lutheran Church (3545 Amherst St. NW, Massillon 44646) from 6-7 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following. Memorial donations may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
