George A. Mangus
Age 98, of Waynesburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon in The Laurels of Canton. Born in Malvern, Ohio, a son of the late Peter and Mary Furriatti Mangus, he had been a Waynesburg resident since 1944. George retired in July of 1995 after 60 years as owner of George's Barber Shop in Waynesburg and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Waynesburg Sportsmen's Club, Canton Council #341 Knights of Columbus, Waynesburg Business Association, the American-Italian Club in Waynesburg, and a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann M. Mangus, on Feb. 3, 2001, and two brothers, William and Anthony Mangus.
Survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Vince Palleschi, of Lake Mohawk, Marilyn Mangus, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Becky and Chuck Hoffman, of Sandyville; one son and daughter-in- law, George P. and Anne Mangus, of North Canton; one sister, Evelyn Cain, of Tipp City, Ohio; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Lisa Palleschi, Mike Palleschi, Kristy and Mike Seymour, Ben Hockenberry, Sarah Hoffman, Jeff Hoffman, Emily Mangus, and Greg Mangus; and two great-granddaughters and one soon to be born great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at Noon in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery.
