Michael J. Gawlak
Age 73, of Canton, passed away after a short illness at Aultman Hospital on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He graduated from Timken High School and was in the Air Force, he was discharged and later recalled. Following his second discharge he worked at the Hoover Co. for 37 years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Polish National Alliance, and Polish Citizens Club. In Mike's early years he enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. He loved playing golf, playing euchre with his buddies, and loved listening to polka music. Mike was always ready to help others and for many years and was a caretaker for his sister, Florence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Catherine Gawlak, and brothers, Eugene and John.
Mike is survived by his sisters, Florence Gawlak and Eleanor (Eugene) Wallace; brother, Matthew (Connie) Gawlak; nieces and nephews, Donna Wallace Eibel, Dean Wallace, Heidi, Brian, Tammy, Troy, Melissa, and Steven Gawlak; and sisters-in-law, Sabina and Adrienne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony/All Saints Parish, with Fr. Thomas Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at the Schneeberger Funeral Home (2222 Fulton Rd. NW, Canton, OH 44709). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's name to St. Anthony/All Saints Parish. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home (formerly Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home).
