Mildred (Misheff) Petroff
On Feb. 18, 2014, Heaven got one more angel when Millie Petroff of Akron, Ohio passed away at the age of 89 years old. Millie Misheff was born June 30, 1924 in Canton, Ohio to Michael and Helen Misheff of Patele, Macedonia. She grew up at 2148 Georgetown Road N.E., Canton, Ohio; and graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1942. After attending business college, she worked in her father's business, the Belden Grocery in Canton. Growing up in Canton, Millie was active in her church and the Macedonian-American community there. She married Patrick D. Petroff, her devoted husband of 59 years, of Akron, Ohio on Oct. 17, 1954. Together, they had three children, Patricia, James and Elaine. The family had a blessed life and resided in Firestone Park, Akron, Ohio. Millie was active in the PTA and the childrens' school activities. She had a green thumb, was an expert seamstress who designed her own clothing, and enjoyed cooking - particularly traditional Macedonian dishes. Mille was the 'fashionable' Baba and still a 'Beauty Queen' at age 89. Millie, a gracious woman, was a charter member of St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church in Fairlawn, Ohio and continued to be active there as well as in the Macedonian community. She was a devout Eastern Orthodox Christian. After breaking her hip three and a half years ago at the age of 86, Millie beat the odds and recovered. Though her health suffered after the fall, she enjoyed the rest of life with her family and friends. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2014.
She is survived by husband, Patrick Dimith (Pete) Petroff, the love of her life; daughter, Dr. Patricia Marie Petroff-Kline (son-in-law, Dr. John C. Kline); son, James Petroff; daughter, Elaine (son-in-law, Dr. Vito Badalamenti); and grandchildren, Nikolos Paolo Badalamenti; Alexander Michael Petroff; and Kathryn Ann Petroff.
