age 86, of Canton, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. He was born in East Canton on Dec. 11, 1926 to the late, Niles Sr. and Agnes Jacobsen. Pete retired from Republic Storage Systems in 1988 following 43 years of employment as a millwright. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. Pete enjoyed watching Cleveland sports, fishing, bowling and traveling. He made it a point to travel to all 50 states and enjoyed fishing in Canada with his family. He loved spending time playing cards with his family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ten siblings, Matha, Viola, David, Thelma, Richard, Becky, Opal, Charlotte, Alfred and Pearl. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Helen; children, Pamela (William) Barron, Cindy (Ed) Phillips, Crystal (Phil) Skeeles, Gary Jacobsen, Niles "Pete" III (Cindy) Jacobsen and Michael (Sherry) Jacobsen; grandchildren, Stephenie (Doug), Samantha, Matthew, Seth, Leila, Erica, Bob (Norma), Derek, Tim (Cassie), Dan (Nicole), Jamie, Brett and Sydney; numerous great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tirmonia, Dr. Pipoly, Dr. Asfoura and the nurses at Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Pete. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton with the Rev. Msgr. Frank Carfagna as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel.
