Wilma L. Hinkle
age 95, of 2045 Lakewood Road S.W., Sherrodsville, Ohio, died late Thursday afternoon May 22, 2014 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton. She was born June 14, 1918 in Sherrodsville and was the daughter of the late Ritchie and Erna Lucas Russell. She married Fred Hinkle on July 9, 1938 and Fred passed away on January 21, 1995. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son David L. Hinkle and two brothers Richard Russell and Oscar Russell.
A homemaker for most of her life, Wilma attended the Dellroy United Methodist Church and was a member of A.A.R.P. She was one of the founding members who started the farmer's market now established in Carrollton. She always planted very large gardens to provide plenty of vegetables for her family's use and to sell. She often was quoted as saying "Plant seeds...pull weeds!" Lucille was a big fan of yard sales.
She is survived by a son and two daughters John H. Hinkle of Dellroy, Ohio, Mrs. Tom (Marcia) Hoff of North Canton, Ohio., and Roxanna M. LeBeau of Tippicanoe, Ohio, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery near Sherrodsville. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11a.m. until time of services at 1p.m. in the funeral home.
