Barbara Jean (Greenham) Lord
56, made her transition to spirit at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center on Jan. 19, 2014 after an extended illness. Born Oct. 16, 1957 in Canton, Ohio, she graduated from Glenwood High School where being in the A cappella choir taught her to love singing and music her whole life. Barbara then graduated from Wittenberg University in 1980, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Later, she earned her Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Akron. She was a Licensed Unity Teacher and worked for six years at the Silent Unity prayer line at Unity World Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. She also worked at the Unity Church in Madison, Wis. and was a former Board Member at the Unity Church of Truth in Massillon, Ohio. She co-managed a business with her husband, Norm, for over twenty years.
Ms. Lord was an accomplished artist, musician and teacher. She enjoyed working in watercolors, oils and acrylics, and was a member of the Women's Art League of Akron and the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She loved playing the hammered dulcimer, sharing her beautiful voice, riding her bike and traveling the world. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and paddling her kayak through the mangroves. She was a founding member of The Merging Hearts Holistic Center in Canton, OH where she led A Course in Miracles (ACIM) classes with her husband until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Klaire L. and Lottie D. (Rearick) Miller; paternal grandparents, James L. and Mary L. (Calhoun) Greenham; her father, Robert L. Greenham; an aunt, Jean (Greenham) Adams, and an uncle, Donald R. Greenham.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Norman E. Lord of Clinton, Ohio; her mother, Carolyn E. Greenham of Canton, Ohio; a brother, Robert K. Greenham (Marty) of Sandusky, Ohio; a nephew, James R. Greenham (Kelli) of Sandusky; a niece, Sarah L. Luczak (Mark) of Walled Lake, Mich., and grandniece and grandnephew, Madelyn and Owen Luczak, of Walled Lake, Mich.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Rd. NW, Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Merging Hearts Holistic Center, 3751 Burrshire Dr. NW, Canton, OH, 44709.
