Joseph A. DeMario
passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Laurels of Canton following an extended illness. Born to Philip and Pauline DeMario, May 17, 1922, in Canton, Joe graduated from McKinley High School in 1939. Following high school, he attended Canton Actual Business College. In 1943, while serving in the United States Army, Joe was stationed as a military policeman in Nassau. He worked several years at the Ford Motor Company and spent most of his career with his father and brothers operation DeMario Moving and Storage, Inc., and independent household moving company founded by Joe's father in 1920. Joe – avid golfer, and member of Christ The Servant Parish (Our Lady of Peace Church), Catholic Order of Foresters and the Unique Club of Stark County, he worked into his late 70's until retirement. Enjoying his retirement, Joe spent as much time as possible with family, and friends, of which he had many. He forever will be missed, and always remembered for his strength of character, humor and genuine affability. Joe was preceded in death by son, Michael DeMario; sister, Antoinette Slaggy; brothers, William, Philip and Vincent; and brother-in-law, Louis Schiavone.
Joe is survived by Mary Schiavone DeMario, his loving wife of 65 years; brother, Frank (Sally); daughter, Patricia DeMario (Joseph Rodriguez); son, Philip DeMario (Diane Drake); daughter-in-law, Carol DeMario (Craig van Horsten); grandchildren, Gina DeMario, Michelle Maguire and husband, Aaron Beck, Christopher DeMario, Jennifer DeMario, and Michael DeMario; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-
law, Dolly Schiavone DeMario, Carol Schiavone (Thomas 'Sid' Edwards), Josephine Maccora Schiavone, James Schiavone (Josephine Mercorelli), Anthony Schiavone, Carl Schiavone (Joan Brahler); and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sancta Clara Monastery, 4200 Market Ave. N., Canton, OH 44709. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Laurels of Canton for their kindness, care and support over the past several months and Crossroads Hospice during his final days. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 730 30th St. N.W., Canton, OH 44709. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Christ The Servant Parish. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
