Sophia R. DuPlain
99, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2013 at her home following a short illness. Born May 10, 1914 in Roswell, Ohio, Sophia lived in the Louisville area most of her life. She retired from the former Harter Bank in 1977 following 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she was a longtime member of the St. Ann Altar and Rosary Society and helped clean the church on a regular basis since the mid 1960's. Sophia volunteered at St. Joseph Care Center well into her 90's. Sophia was an avid baker of cookies and other wonderful treats.
Preceded in death by her husband, Russell F. following 57 years of marriage in 1994, a granddaughter, Deborah Nelson in July 2013 and a great-grandson, Jordan Vogel. Survivors include four sons, Russell F. Jr. (Pat) of Arizona, Ronald R. (Karen), James E. (Edna) and Larry J. all of Louisville; four daughters, Darlene 'Dee' (Ed) Shannon of Canton, Sr. Mary Ann, SJSM, Elizabeth 'Betty' (Charles) McLaughlin and Dorothy 'Dot' (Cookie) Bricker all of Louisville; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. She was expecting her first great-great-grandchild in Dec.
Calling hours will be held Friday, 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville where a time of remembrance will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Frient as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 2308 Reno Dr., Louisville, Ohio. Arrangements are being coordinated jointly between the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Homes of Canton and the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home of Louisville.
