Susan V. Gattuso
who would prefer we don't mention her age, left us way too soon. She died of natural
causes on Jan. 27 in her Jackson Township home where she had resided for 46 years. Susie was born in Rogues Hollow in the Collier family "estate" and was a graduate of Doylestown High School, the forerunner of Chippewa High. She was proud to be the direct descendant of two Revolutionary War officers and the great-great-granddaughter of "Big Boss Bill" Collier, proprietor of the Silver Creek Mining Company. She greatly enjoyed her years working at the family business, Gattuso's Music Center in Canton. Being a "people" person, she loved the interaction with customers and employees. Very musically inclined, she was blessed with the voice of an angel and the patience of Job. She never knew a stranger. Everyone who met her was touched by the magic of her wit and gracious smile. Susie was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Norris; parents, Edith Davidson and Tracy Ford; and her grandmother, who raised her, Mildred Collier.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Denny Gattuso; and daughters, Kelly Witsaman (Roy), Jennifer Johnson (Mark) and Stacie Slay (Terry); son, Carey Norris (Mary) and stepson, Dennis C. Gattuso Jr. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, David and Michael Witsaman, Jorja Norris, Haley and Jack Slay. Also grieving are her siblings, Dale Ford (Mary) of Tucson, Ariz., and Martha Cosbey (Ray Mattey) and Ed Davidson, both of Doylestown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. If you hear a choir of angels, the clear soprano voice leading the others is our Susie.
