JoAnn Shaffer Obituary
Age 82, of Canton, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 in Aultman Hospital. She was born March 25, 1927 in Canton to the late Joseph and Sadie (Karch) Shander. JoAnn was a member of the Salvation Army where she was active with the Ladies Home League and served as a volunteer in the nursery for many years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Shaffer in 1972; one sister, Marie Witts; an infant sister; daughter-in-law, Bunny Shaffer.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Lawrence Shaffer of Columbus, Ohio, Ronald and Jane Shaffer of Massillon, Doc A. Shaffer of Canton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and Bill Pacey of New Haven, Mich., Sunnydale Formen of Richmond, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ella Palmer of Navarre, Kay and Dallas Uplinger of N. Canton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday Feb. 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Salvation Army at 420 S. Market Ave., Canton, OH 44702. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. in the Kreighbaum- Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. and one hour before services at the Salvation Army (10-11 a.m.). Dear Sunnydale,Larry,Kaye,&family, Knowing your mother, sister and grandmother for not quite 2 years here at Kimberle Gardens was a blessing to me & all who knew her. She never tired of opening doors, sweeping outdoors, baking, and collecting treasures for the Army. She was always busy and an inspiration to keep going for anyone with health problems who ever thought of giving up. We have missed her for awhile, but now we know she is in God's loving arms. Dear Doc and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet mother I grew up around her because my mom and her were best friends your mom was agreat great lady a lot of people are going to miss her. she always told my mom Janet u know i'm the 15th Carnes child and thats how our family felt your grandma Sadie was my grandma Sadie because she told me to call her that and I loved her so much. I loved your mom I remember so much about your mom and my mom their are so many fond memories of them. And they are now back together up in heaven to begin their friendship all over again. May god go with you all in your time of need. I will keep u in my thoughts and prayers.
