Gerald Melcher Obituary
age 82, of Massillon, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 in his residence following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 25, 1928 in Pipestone County, Minn., to the late Herman J. and Jennie (Peterson) Melcher. Jerry was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming, Ga., and was retired after 41 years of service in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Melcher in 1991. He is survived by three sons, Mark (Melanie) Melcher of Holton, Kan., Michael (Susan) Melcher of Aurora, Colo., Tom (Molly) Melcher of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Marlys Crawford of Pipestone, Minn.; four nephews; Ruth Craig, his companion of 18 years and Ruth's daughter, Karen Hain of Canton.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services planned. Memorials may be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West 3rd St., Dover, OH 44622.
