age 90, of Massillon passed away at her residence early Monday, April 30, 2012. Born in Massillon March 27, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Lee J. and Mae (Boekel) Packer. Jean was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School, retired as a teller from Citizens Savings Bank and was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church.
Her husband of 62 years, Vincent G. Hammer preceded her in 2006; also preceding her was her infant daughter, Natalie Ann Hammer; her sister, Jeanette Smith; her brothers, Lee J. Packer, Jr. and Edward Packer; her son-in-law, David Feather; her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Melvin 'Scott' Smith; and her brother-in-law, James Karrenbaurer. Jean was a very loving mother to her five daughters, Kathy Feather, Gwen (Terry) Hemperly, Vicki Lupsor, Jeannie (Jim) Bullock, and Kim (Steve) Crescenze; a very caring grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, Monica Kring, Mark Feather, Brian Hemperly, Amy (D.J.) Jacko, Kara Hemperly, Katie (Chris) McNeil, Marisa (Shawn) Mayhew, Andrew Lupsor, Andrea Bullock, Abby Bullock, Natalie Crescenze, and Sam Crescenze; her seven great-grandchildren, twins, Adam and Nathan Kring, Riley, Owen and Grady McNeil, Caden Jacko, and Hunter Walton; her sister, Mae Irma 'Tiny' Karrenbaurer; her sister-in-law, Jean Packer and her beloved dog, Maggie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed 10 a.m. Wednesday May 2 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Cebula officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery.
