Bennie Major Harris
was born Feb. 19, 1944 Gay, Ga. to the union of Eugene and Mattie Lou Harris (both deceased). Siblings preceeded in death, Henry Harris, Mary Lou, Willie Gene Harris, Mattie L. Harris, Willie Roy Harris; and one son, Terrance Suggs. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 48 years, Mary Harris; and children, Adrienne Chenault, Troy D. (Allison), Michael Todd, (Denise) Vonda K. and Bennie M. Harris Jr.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two of which are Geno and Aaron Harris; siblings, Emma Lou, Bessie L. Osteen, Robert Harris, Lorena Bryant, Marvin Harris, Geraldine (Phil) Lee, Danny Harris and Terrie Sherpard. He was a son of a sharecropper. He attended McKinley High School, and served time in the National Guard. He was employed at Camelot Music Inc. and retired from Standard Printing. Bennie was a trained mechanic while carpentry was a side talent. When he became saved he ministered The Word and encouraged the love and grace of God. He was a man of many gifts and talents and used them to bless and encourage others. He was a true disciple of Christ.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 12 noon in Pentecostal Temple, COGIC, 718 Henrietta Ave. NE, Canton, OH 44704. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m.-12 noon. The Reed Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
