Miriam Blanton Scott, 87, of Elk Creek, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017.
She was born in Plant City, Florida on August 18, 1929, to Bernard and Eva Blanton. A graduate of Radford College, Miriam spent most of her career as a business and typing teacher at Grayson County High School.
In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, George Scott and her four siblings, Frances Trammell, Kenneth Blanton, Zane Blanton and Bernard Blanton.
Survivors include her three sons and spouses, Andrew and Marcy Scott of Raleigh, NC, Phillip Scott of Riverview, FL and Kenneth and Debra Scott of Independence; four grandchildren, Rachel, Jacob, Drew, and Lee as well as three great grandchildren.
Services were held at Lebanon United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. Family received friends prior to and after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to one of the following organizations that Miriam supported: The Elk Creek Rescue Squad at 9109 Elk Creek Pkwy, Elk Creek, VA 24326; Lebanon Cemetery Association at 1625 Stones Chapel Road, Elk Creek, VA 24326 or the Elk Creek Fire Department at P.O. Box 36, Elk Creek, VA 24326.
