James Ernest (Pete) Billings, age 68, of Elk Creek passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

He was born June 21, 1945 in Independence to Charles Troy Billings and Jincye Cox Billings. He was preceded in death by his father and sister Joyce B. Jones. He was a retired investigator with the Grayson County Sherriff's Office.
Surviving are wife, Alta Sutherland Billings of the home; his mother, Jincye Cox Billings of Independence; two sons and spouses, Brian and April Billings of Elk Creek and Wes and Hillary Billings of Draper; three grandchildren, David Billings of Ft. Carson, Colo., Brayden Billings and Addison Billings of Draper.
A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 24, at Lebanon United Methodist Church in Elk Creek. Rev. Bobby Lorton and Rev. Bill Shupe officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
