Forest Dette Vaughan, 91, of Fries passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Fries on June 5, 1923 to Panco and Maude Hayes Jefferson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Emmett Vaughan, Sr.; sisters Edna Hubble and Lillie Jefferson; brothers Jeff Jefferson; Reeves Jefferson; Grady Jefferson; Roscoe Jefferson and Thomas Jefferson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Bill Sumner of Floyd; sons and daughters-in-law James and Diana Vaughan of Cleburne, Tex.; Earl and Andrea Vaughan of Camano Island, Wash.; Harrison Vaughan and special friend Brenda Walker of Christiansburg; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three greatgreat- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted Aug. 15 in the Fries United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the Monta Vista Cemetery.
