Abbeville, SC - Benjamin Carroll Garner, Jr., "B.J", 26, resident of Bulls Horne Rd. Nation Community died Sunday Feb. 24, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Oct. 2, 1986 in Abbeville , SC he was the son of Benjie and Lori McMahan Garner.
BJ attended Diamond Hill Elementary School , and graduated from Dixie High School in 2005. He then attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Piedmont Technical College where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was formerly employed at Milliken Corp. of Abbeville, and currently employed at Prysmian Cables and Systems in Abbeville , SC as a shift Lead Man. BJ's family and friends were a tremendous part of his life. BJ enjoyed life to the fullest and loved riding 4-Wheelers, rock crawling, and anything outdoors. Most of his spare time was spent with "The Boys": Dusty Bradberry, Clay Hall, Jeremy Nelson, Travis Montgomery, Matthew Montgomery, Garrett Slaton, Rocky Henry, Shane Thomas, and James Young at the "Nation Offroad Complex", and preparing to begin his life with his fiancé, Heather.
Survivors include: In addition to his loving parents, his sister India Garner; Paternal grandparents John and Gloris Garner of Abbeville, SC, Maternal grandparents Bob McMahan of Abbeville, SC, and Emily McMahan and Richard Stone of Lowndesville, SC; BJ also leaves behind his long-time sweetheart and fiancé Heather Shirley of Greenwood, SC.
BJ was preceded in death by Maternal great-grandparents George "Daddy George" and Mildred "MaMil" McMahan of Abbeville, SC; grandmother Sandra McMahan of Abbeville, SC, Paternal Great-grandmother Ruth "Grandmama" Harrison of Abbeville, and great-grandparents Ben "PaPa" and Blanche Harrison of Abbeville; great-grandparents Bruce and Ada "Nana" Clinkscales.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Feb. 27, 2013 at 3:30 PM at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Greer officiating. The burial will follow in the Church Cemetery .
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. The family is at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Benjie Garner of Bulls Horne Rd. Abbeville , SC.
Active pallbearers will be Dusty Bradberry, Clay Hall, Jeremy Nelson, Matthew Montgomery, Shane Thomas, Rocky Henry, James Young, Travis Montgomery, Garett Slaton, and Shannon Wilson.
Memorial in memory of BJ may be made to a charity of one's choice.
