Carlton, Fred Herman  
Fred Herman Carlton ANDERSON, S.C. Fred Herman Carlton, 86, of Anderson, SC, loving and devoted husband of Judi C. Carlton, passed away peacefully at the Rainey Hospice House on Monday, May 4, 2015 after a period of declining health. Born in Anderson, SC on April 19, 1929, Herman was the son of the late Fletcher and Lola Sanders Carlton. Herman retired from the City of Anderson Fire Department as Assistant Chief in 1993. He was a member of Post 14 of the American Legion and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He loved and honored his God and enjoyed the Christian fellowship he found in The Men's Bible Class at Trinity. Herman proudly served his country as a United States Marine and was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed maintaining contact with fellow Marines who served with him in Korea. In addition to his wife, Herman is survived by a daughter, Lisa Janelle Chambers, a son, John Chambers and his wife Karen and his two beautiful grandchildren of whom he was most proud, Ashleigh Elizabeth Chambers and Steven John Chambers. He is also survived by a sister, Minnie Carlton Jones, a very special sister-in-law, Sara C. Moore and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Herman was predeceased by a daughter, Dianne Carlton Ware, and a son, Steven George Carlton. He was also preceded in death by brothers, BC, Clarence, Reed, Milton, Raymond, Jack, Tom, Samuel, Robert and Bill, and sisters Mattie, Ruth, and Mae. No mention of Herman would be complete without his adorable little MaltiPoo, Abbi. Herman and Judi adopted Abbi in 2010 and she quickly became his constant companion. He opened his heart to this precious bundle of love and was rewarded with all the love she had to give. She will miss her Daddy. Herman's life and legacy will be celebrated at Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 9, at 11:00 am. The Rev. Mary V. Teasley and Dr. L. Thomas Ritchie will officiate. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Upstate or the Endowment Fund of Trinity United Methodist Church. Fred Herman Carlton touched many lives during his time on earth. He was a man of many endearing qualities and he embraced life with all its joys and challenges to the fullest. His family would like to gratefully thank the entire staff of Hospice of the Upstate for their exceptional care and concern during his last days. You will remain in our hearts forever as each one of you went the extra mile to see that Herman and our family lacked for nothing during his time with you. Furtick, Stephen Thomas "Steve"  
Steve Furtick WEDOWEE, A.l. Stephen Thomas Furtick, age 55, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his residence. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Betty Stephens Furtick and the late Rawls O'Neal Furtick. He grew up in Batesburg, SC and was a graduate of Clemson University. Steve was the Director of Operator Services at Earthlink in Anniston AL. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen King Furtick, of the home; a daughter, Karen Ashley Furtick, of the home; a son, Ryan Thomas Furtick, of Jacksonville, AL; two brothers, Phil (June) Furtick, and Douglas Furtick, of Leesville, SC; two sisters, Deb (Ed) Farris, of York, SC and Dianne (Randy) Miles, of Gilbert, SC. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law Larry and Ann King and 3 sister/brother-in-laws; Kathy (Tony) Berryhill, Cindy (Bobby) Peeler, and Vicki King and a host of nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by family and friends. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Polly Lyles ANDERSON, S.C. Ophelia "Polly" Gail Thompson Lyles, age 56, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy Glenn Thompson and the late Cleo Montez Hampton Thompson. She was a member of Broadway Lake Baptist Church. Polly is survived by her son, Allen Lee Lyles and his girlfriend, Kerwren, of Anderson, SC; four sisters, Teresa Price and her husband Ron, of Maxeys, GA, Sheila White and her husband Lewis, of Starr, SC, Debbie King and her husband Wayne, of Anderson, SC and Ray White, of Maxeys, GA; and two grandchildren, Zoi Elizabeth Lyles and Asher Lyles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Watson. The Funeral Service will be held in The Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dwight Greene and Reverend Early Tucker officiating. Interment will be scheduled at a later date at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. McClellan, Joe Bill  
Joe Bill McClellan ANDERSON, S.C. Joe Bill McClellan, age 86, of Anderson, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Anderson on April 11, 1929, he was the son of the late George William and Grace Hancock McClellan. For 67 ½ years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara Bowen McClellan of the home. Mr. McClellan was a Graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, Class of 1946. He was employed for 53 years at the Anderson Independent-Daily Mail in various capacities. This was the only job he was to hold. A life-long Gamecock fan, he was an avid fisherman and loved going to the beach with his best girl, Barbara, the love of his life. Joe Bill was an excellent provider for his family and was loved and respected by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Joe Bill is survived by a son, Richard McClellan of Anderson; two daughters, Pamela M. Rainey of Anderson, and Allyson Sanders and her husband Brian of Anderson; a son-in-law Keith Scott and his wife Brenda of Anderson; a brother, Donald McClellan and his wife Sandra of Belton; a brother-in-law, Melvin Bowen and his wife Jane of Anderson; a sister-in-law Helen Rapella and husband Jim of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Brian Scott, Jon Michael Rainey, Brandon Rainey, Joshua Rainey, Courtney Gibson, Meredith Rainey, Douglas Friedel, Sam Sanders, and Ben Sanders; also surviving are ten great-grandchildren. Joe Bill also leaves behind his devoted pet dog, Emma. In addition to his parents, Mr. McClellan was preceded in death by a son, Russell Bowen McClellan; a daughter, Gina Scott; two grandsons, Christopher Scott and Travis Scott; one great-grandson, Hayden Rainey, and his step-mother, Nannie Hagan McClellan. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Joe Bill McClellan will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Johnny McKinney officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mr. McClellan may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621; or to The Boulevard Baptist Church Building Fund, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621. Moore, JoAnne  
JoAnne Moore WILMINGTON, D.E. JoAnne Poore Woodward Moore, 80, formerly of Anderson, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2015 at her home in Wilmington, DE with her family by her side. Born February 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecil Jones Poore. She was a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Moore enjoyed her family, crocheting, gardening and reading. She was a devoted caregiver to her eldest son, Daniel Joseph Woodward, that passed away at age 39. Surviving are her husband, C.G. "Gerry" Moore of the home, children, Sharon W. Lowe of Wilmington, DE, Marcus Woodward, of Anderson, stepchildren, Karen Smith (Jeff), Timothy Moore (Cathy), grandson, Chris Lowe (Ann),all of Anderson, a great nephew that spent much time with her, Alexander Isabella, three step grandchildren and two sisters, Barbara Burden Forshee and Linda Bryant both of Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary conducted by a grandson, Chris W. Lowe. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The family will be at the home of her cousin, Marshall and Cynthia Snelgrove, 1201 Keone Circle, Williamston, SC. Barbara Ann Shealy ANDERSON, S.C. Barbara Ann Shealy, 81, of 102 Stonehaven Drive, passed away at the Rainey Hospice House on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Born on April 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Joe F. and Ruby Stansell and a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her husband, Lamar Shealy; sons, Steve Shealy and Bruce Shealy, and his wife Donna; granddaughters, Nancy Shealy and Lindsey Shealy; and three sisters, and five brothers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Stansell; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Shealy. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Mr. Harry Osborne and Reverend Brent Lollis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Linda Albert ANDERSON, S.C. Linda Wolff Albert, 73, wife of Benjamin K. Albert, of Highway 81 North, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at her residence. Born January 7, 1942 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Paul Rufus and Iris Shaw Wolff. She was a graduate of Erskine College and received her Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. Mrs. Albert taught school for 32 years in School District #1, retiring from Palmetto Primary in Williamston. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she was a member of the Hope Sunday School Class and the Keenagers. Survivors include her husband, Ben Albert of the home; brother, Paul W. Wolff and wife, Pam of Anderson; niece, Paula Campbell and husband, Brian; two nephews, Alan Wolff and wife, Kelly and Todd Wolff and wife, Christal; five great nieces and one great nephew. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Old Stone Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Randy Blank. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
