Williamston, S.C. - Michael J. Jedwabny, 63, departed life peacefully on May 14, 2013 while under Hospice care at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Michael was born on May 21, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Walter A. Jedwabny and Frances E. Lovinfosse Jedwabny.
Michael was also predeceased by three older brothers, and his wife Sylvia.
He is survived by a niece and nephew who live in Pennsylvania.
As a young man, Michael served in the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War
era. During his working life, Mike was employed in building maintenance, as well as shipping and logistics, primarily in North Carolina. He was an active 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8295 in Anderson, SC, and Assembly #1933 in Seneca, SC.
Prior to his passing, Michael resided at 1 Crescent Dr., Williamston, SC with his caregivers, Betty and Billy Trotter. For the last several years, due to his disabilities, Mike could often be found visiting around Williamston on his scooter chair, with his service dog Angel. An animal lover, under his sometimes gruff demeanor, those who took the time to get to know him discovered a kind and caring man who will be missed.
A funeral Mass will be offered for Michael at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church at 5 pm on June 4, 2013.
