Dr. Edward Loyless "Eddie" Thomas, Jr. D.M.D., husband of Susan Buck Thomas, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his residence.
Born in Abbeville, SC, he was the son of the late Edward Loyless Thomas, Sr. and Inez Stone Thomas. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School, College of Charleston and MUSC College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Thomas opened his dental practice, Edward L. Thomas, Jr. D.M.D. Family Dentistry in Anderson in 1980. He was a member of the South Carolina Dental Association, the Tri-County Dental Association, the Anderson Better Business Bureau, and a member of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Thomas served as President of the Anderson Country Club, Secretary of the T.L. Hanna Booster Club Board, and he was a faithful member of St. John's UMC of Anderson where he served as President of the Men's Club. He was currently serving his second term on the Board of Trustees at the College of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Buck Thomas and their three children: Edward Loyless Thomas III (wife Catherine Leigh Thomas) of Anderson, Sarah E T Brown (husband Marlin Joe Brown) of Lugoff, and William Buck Thomas of Greenville; grandson Brockman Loyless Thomas of Anderson. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Thomas Griffin (husband Reggie Griffin) of Abbeville and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at St. John's United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Kitty Holtzclaw. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the church parlor. The family is at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the College of Charleston, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC 29424-0001; St. John's United Methodist Church, 515 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or the charity of one's choice.

I was saddened to hear of Dr Thomas's passing. He has been my dentist for over 20 years and he was a joy to know. He will be greatly missed, not only as a doctor but a great person to know.

Susan and Family - so sorry for your loss and all the many, many friends you have. Not only was "Big E" a college roommate, but someone cherished as a friend. The 2 happiest times I remember were when we were hanging out at The College and on your wedding day! He will truly be missed!! My prayers are with you.
