Freck Morrison
May 7, 1928 - September 25, 2010
ANDERSON, SC - James William "Freck" Morrison, age 82, of 133 Selwyn Drive, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Brown Memorial Convalescence Center in Royston, GA.
Born in Anderson, SC on May 7, 1928, Freck was a son of the late Max O. Morrison and Maude Cromer Morrison. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. During his many years in service to God, Freck was a soul-winner, a Deacon, and Adult Couples Sunday School teacher. He was a minor league and textile league baseball player. He retired after 36 years from Independent Life Insurance Company.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Broadwell Morrison, of the home; his son, David Morrison and his wife Angie, of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Jean Anderson and her husband Steve and Rhonda Burdette and her husband Mitchell, all of Starr, SC; three grandchildren, Cara Johnson, Blake Miller and Meredith Welch and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Jordan and Bryce Johnson; a sister, Ruth Watkins of Atlanta, GA; and a brother-in-law, Charles Broadwell and his wife Barbara, of Anderson, SC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Morrison is predeceased by a granddaughter, Crystal Anderson; a brother, Henry Morrison; and three sisters, Elma Richey, Caroline Hawkins, and Frances Evans.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverends Gordon Taylor, Charles Ray Ball, John Daniel and Mr. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Missions Fund, 404 Warner Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
