Lucille Hunsucker

Lucille D. Mabrey Hunsucker CONCORD Mrs. Lucille Dover Mabrey Hunsucker, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Avante Nursing Facility, after three years of declining health. A celebration of her life was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tamara Wensil officiated. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Hunsucker was born May 19, 1920, in Cabarrus County, to Charles Walter and Zula Lefler Dover. She was educated in the Cabarrus County schools and retired from Wolf Meadow School, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She lived most of her life on White Street in Jackson Park and was a faithful member of Rocky Ridge Methodist Church. She served her church in many ways from Sunday school teaching to being a founding member of the "Hot Dog Gang". She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She loved her church and her church family very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen D. Robbins and Rachel D. Underwood; and a brother, Charles W. "Don" Dover. Her first husband, Craven C. Mabrey, who she married in 1941, died in 1953. Her second husband, Frank Hunsucker whom she married in 1973, died in 1978. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy M. McDaniel and husband, James; son, Craven C. Mabrey, Jr. and wife, Cindy, all of Concord; grandchildren, Brian McDaniel and wife, Stephanie, Terri M. Todd and husband, Kevin, all of Harrisburg and Lori M. Reese and husband, Daryl, of Davidson; great-grandchildren, Austin and Madison McDaniel, Katie Todd, and Evan and Hayley Reese; sister, Ruth D. Hinson, of Concord; and sister-in-law, Shirley M. Dover, of Salisbury. The family would like to thank the staff at Avante for the love and care they have given her, Dr. Vincent Keipper for his many years of care and to Hospice of Cabarrus County.
