Catherine Walker OAKBORO Ms. Catherine Vignette Walker, 61, of Hamilton Rd., Oakboro, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her residence. She was born May 16, 1951, in Cabarrus County, to Catherine Mahatha Walker and the late Sam Franklin Walker. Cathy was educated in the Cabarrus County School System and attended Evans College. She was employed with Tuscaroa Yarns and a member of Rock Hill AME Zion Church, where she had served on the choir and Missionary Society. Services will be held at Rock Hill AME Zion Church Saturday, Nov. 24. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., and funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Kenda Walker, of Concord; mother, Catherine M. Walker, of Concord; three sisters, Paulette Steele (Harold), Trena Walker, and Ivon Ford (Buford), all of Concord; four brothers, Timothy Walker (Tracy), Christopher Walker, and Robin Walker, all of Charlotte, and Samuel Walker (Teresa), of Concord; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
