James M. Stewart

CONCORD - Mr. James Marshall Stewart, age 89, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at his home under the care of Hospice, following a short illness. A service of celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in Epworth United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Christy and Dr. Glen Myers Jr. officiated. Mr. Stewart is a lifelong resident of Cabarrus County, born Dec. 7, 1921, to the late Joseph H. Stewart and Mayfield Little Stewart. He retired from the Concord Post Office. He was an active member Epworth United Methodist Church for fifty years. He was very active in various church activities throughout the years, especially the hot dog ministry. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Stokes Masonic Lodge #32, Concord. He and his wife Mary Gwyn Stewart were married on March 18, 1951. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Clarence and Leroy Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mary Gwyn Stewart, one sister Kathleen Stewart of Concord and a number of nieces and nephews.
