James Weaks Obituary

James Weaks CONCORD James Marshall Weaks, 79, of 55 Hawthorne Street, was called to his heavenly reward on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House. He was born on March 15, 1932, in Concord to the late Lester Weaks and the late Hattie Moore Weaks. James was educated in the North Carolina Public School System. He later moved to Norfolk, Va. and then to Boston, Mass. where he was employed by Duffy Brothers in the construction industry for 17 years. He went on to work for General Electric from which he retired in 1994. While in Massachusetts, he met and married his wife of 46 years, Ruby. To their union five children were born. They also had two step-children. Following retirement, James and Ruby relocated back to North Carolina to be near his sisters. James was preceded in death by five sisters, Annie Mae Bensen, Arth-erine Weaks Frazier, Mary Haney, Willie Bell Payne, and Virgil Weaks Caldwel, and one brother, Lester Thomas Weaks. Left to cherish his memory are a devoted wife, Ruby, of the home; 11 children, Gloria J. Rivera, Virginia E. Weaks Rowell (Keith), Michelle R. Burns (Danny), Arherine L. Weaks, Ricky M. Weaks, Veronica Belmar, and Lemell Weaks, all of Boston, Mass.; Gregory Belmar and Carol Forte, both of Concord; Vanessa Belmar (Lynn) and Tracey Flody of Shorter, Ala.; two step-children, James A. Egleston and Joyce M. Egleston, both of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Savannah Caldwell of Concord, and Minnie Ruth Gigt of Flint, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Humphries of Boston, Mass.; and Josephine Weaks of Norfolk, Va.; one brother-in-law, Willie J. Egleston (Elaine) of Boston, Mass.; 32 grandchildren; 24 great-grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will cherish his memory forever. Visitation will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 255 Logan Ave., SW. The Homegoing Celebration Service will follow at 1 p.m. Rev. R.J. Brown, Eulogist.
