Lanerd, Doris D.  
Doris D. Larnerd, 92, of South Montrose, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Gracious Living Estates surrounded by her family. Her husband, Frederick (Ted) Larnerd, predeceased her. She was born on April 10, 1923 in Avoca, to the late James and Laura Louise (Dockett) Conkey. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Patty Larnerd, Great Mills, Md.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Jim Regan, Tunkhannock, Nadene and Carl Hawley, Forest Lake; 12 grandchildren and their significant others, Glenn Jr., (Betty) Larnerd, Amanda (Bryant) Nulph, Brian Baker, Patrick (Michele) Regan, Doris Regan (Liam McCarthy), Matthew (Amy Marie) Hawley, Amy Lee (Jake) Hytovick, Dr. Cory Hawley, James Jr., Mitchell, John and Justene Larnerd; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Joan Watkins, Moosic; brother and sister-in-law, William and Charlotte Conkey, Spring Hill, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James Larnerd Sr.; two brothers, Wayne and Ronald Conkey; and sister, Beryl Bowen. Doris worked at the U.S. Post office for 36 years, the last as Post Master in South Montrose; she loved her job, her co-workers and the community she became so much a part of. Doris was a member of the South Montrose Community Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Being a volunteer was at Doris' core, she volunteered at the American Cancer Society, the former Asa Park Nursing Home, Montrose General Hospital, and her church. Doris was a "people person," she liked traveling so she could meet new ones, she loved her Gracious Living Center family, especially her "girls" and "boys" who made her golden years there comfortable and happy. Above all else, Doris loved having her family around her. A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Jane Pykus of the South Montrose Community Church, officiating. Interment in the South Montrose Cemetery. Visitations were held Monday evening at the funeral home.
