Lucas J. "Luke" Baker, age 33, of 4255 SR 267, Meshoppen, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, February 23, 2014 at the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock.
Luke was born in Tunkhannock, on October 3, 1980 the son of Arden C. and Diane L, Kamarauskas Baker.
Luke grew up in Auburn Center, just outside of Meshoppen, and he was a graduate of the Elk Lake High School, class of 1999.
After his graduation from high school, Luke served his country with the US Army Reserves, where he was stationed in Iraq for 18 months.
He was a member of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion of Black Walnut. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Luke also enjoyed playing golf and pool, but mostly just enjoyed being surrounded by his two children, his family and his many friends.
Surviving are his mother and father, Diane and Arden Baker of Auburn Center; the mother of his children, Melinda Harvey, of Meshoppen; his two children, Landon Cyrus Baker age 7; and Madeline May Baker age 4, both of Meshoppen; his brother and sister, Jesse and his wife Jackie Baker of Hallstead, and Angela and Jason Wouells, of Meshoppen; two nephews, Jack and Joe Baker both of Hallstead; two nieces, Jocelyn and Lauren Wouells, both of Meshoppen. Luke is also survived by his girlfriend, Heather Demarest, of Montrose; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding Luke in death were his maternal grandparents, Albert and Lottie Kamarauskas; and paternal grandparents, Cyrus and Shirley Baker.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, February 28, 2014, at 3 p.m., from the Sheldon Funeral Home, SR6, Meshoppen, with Rev. Timothy Barnett of the New Hope Ministries Church in West Auburn officiating. Interment will be in the Jersey Hill Cemetery, in Auburn Center. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Military Services will be conducted at the funeral home, prior to the funeral services, by the members of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion, of Black Walnut, PA.; Dennis Strong Post 457 American Legion, of Tunkhannock, and the Endless Mountains V.F.W
