Ralph L. Detwiler, 84, of Montrose, formerly of Jackson, passed away, Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home.
Born February 15, 1929 in Telford, he was the son of the late Henry and Eva (Landis) Detwiler.
He was Dairy Farmer. In later years he was employed by Pickering Farm Equipment as a part salesman, the Agway in New Milford, and Al Tilley Auto Sales in Montrose.
He was a member of Lakeview Mennonite Church where he was the Treasurer for many years, past Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and Summer Bible School Superintendent.
Was previously a member of the former Eastern Milk Producers Association, served on the board of Lakeview Cemetery Association, was a 4-H leader, teaching tractor safety, and was a Jackson Township Supervisor.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Miriam (Godshall) Detwiler, daughters and sons-in-law, Gay and Douglas Wood of Susquehanna, Joy Ploskonka of Lancaster, Ky., Crystal and Gregory Wright of Windsor, N.Y.; sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Connie Detwiler of Chambersburg, Michael and Lorrie Detwiler of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and David Huegel of Cape May, N.J., Gladys and David Longacre of Harrisonburg, Va., Lena Craig of Sellersville; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Ruth Detwiler of Telford.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Detwiler; great-granddaughter, Taryn Ann Detwiler; three brothers; and one sister.
Services were held Tuesday at Lakeview Mennonite Church, Susquehanna.
Visitation was held Monday evening at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Montrose; and prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
