Jay Atkinson, 55, of Montrose, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Geisinger South Wilkes Barre Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born on June 3, 1957 in Johnson City, N.Y., to Lorrine Atkinson, of Florida, and the late Richard D. Atkinson.
Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Tracy J. (Tiffany) Atkinson; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Nichol Atkinson, Montrose, daughters and son-in \-law, Nicole and Josh Ross, Montrose, and Amanda Atkinson, Montrose; two grandchildren, Hailey and Christopher Atkinson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Jean Atkinson of Michigan, John Atkinson, of Montrose, Jim and Rose Atkinson of Hallstead; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Tom Oleniacz, Montrose; several aunts, uncles, nephews and niece.
Jay enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, football, animals, and hunting. He was a hard worker; he worked for over 32 years at Maines Paper and Food, Conklin, N.Y., and enjoyed all of his customers at the Shell gas station here in Montrose. Jay loved to spend time, especially at the lake, with his family.
A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Phil Hunt of the Stanfordville Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Lawsville Cemetery, Liberty Twp. Friends called on the family on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
