Sophie A. Banko, 83, Montrose, Pa., passed away on April 30, 2009, after a long illness, at Gracious Living Estates, South Montrose, Pa.

She was born in Dickson City, Pa., to the late Joseph and Agnes (Lukicewicz) Kacuba.
Her husband of 56 years, Charles Banko, predeceased her in 2006.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Abelardo Wee, Madison, Miss.; many nieces and nephews.
Also predeceasing Sophie were three sisters, Mary Hawley, Stella Kowalski and Ann Agnew; four brothers, Leonard, Joseph, Walter and John Kacuba.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Auburn, Pa.
Sophie worked in sewing factories in the Meshoppen and Montrose area, along with being a lifelong dairy farmer with her husband.
Sophie was a loving wife and mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 4, 2009, at the Holy Name of Mary Church, Montrose, with Rev. Gerard F. Safko officiating.
Interment was in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Auburn.
Visitation was held prior to services on Monday, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophie's name may be made to Gracious Living Estates, R.R. 6, Box 6000, Montrose, PA 18801.
