Nicholas Markovitch, 86, of Montrose, passed away peacefully after an extended illness, on May 30, 2014, at the Endless Mountains Health Systems. Montrose.

He was born on October 18, 1927, in Montrose, to the late John and Mary (Kruk) Markovitch.
Surviving are his four nieces and their spouses, Carla Pelkie, Ithaca, NY, Merrie Jeanine Markovitch, and Dennis Martin, Johnson City, NY, Rozannah and Robert Martone, Endicott, NY, Monya Severance, Binghamton, NY; three nephews, Sam Arcangeli, Endicott, NY, John Severance, Ariz., and Paul Markovitch, Clifton Springs, NY; a special friend and his wife, Paul and Carol Hitchcock, Montrose; several other nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, Joe, Michael, and John Markovitch; and three sisters, Mary Markovitch, Ann Arcangeli, and Julia Severance.
Nick was born and raised right on the family farm, and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church, and a graduate of the Montrose High School. Nick was a very good story teller; he was humble, practical, and a giving man. He enjoyed fishing, and hunting deer, especially on the land he so truly loved.
A Funeral Rite was held Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Philip Rayappan officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery. Visitations will be an hour prior to the service.
