Mary Alice (Pickett) Knauth, 100, died peacefully at home in Rushville, PA the night of June 23, 2014.

She was born November 3, 1913, in Arkansas. She was the last survivor of nine children born to Ludwell and Sallie Miller Pickett, and spent her formative years in Louisville, KY, living with her beloved aunt, Dr. Alice N. Pickett, who was head of the obstetrics department at The University of Louisville.
Mrs. Knauth was a teacher in New York City before moving to Rushville. Her marriage to Oliver Knauth, a writer, ended in divorce in 1948.
Mrs. Knauth is survived by her daughters, Caroline Cabot and Anne Van Rensselaer; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Blakeslee Botsford, predeceased her.
She will be buried in the Pickett family plot in Shelbyville, KY.
