Mary B. Carey, 61, of Montrose, passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born August 1, 1953 in Binghamton, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ward and Grace (DeWitt) Bailey.

Mary was a graduate from Montrose Area High school and continued her education at Millersville University where she received her degree in music education. She was the manager at Stables Restaurant for over 30 years.

Mary was a kind, compassionate, loving woman. She had a passion for music and children and taught many to play. Mary loved her cats, spending time on the deck listening to music and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a dedicated member and organist of the Franklin Forks United Methodist Church where she supplied beautiful music along with her siblings each and every Sunday. Mary would eagerly volunteer and step in and deliver the Sunday sermon when the pastors were not available. She not only enjoyed but had incredible talent for playing the organ and baking a pie - it was all done to

Mary was a very special woman who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of 20 years, Dennis Carey of Montrose; step daughter and step son-in-law, Colleen and Michael Moran of Kirkwood, N.Y.; grandchildren, Brayden and Max; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Robert Beyea of Lawsville, Carol and Anthony Engle of Lawsville; brother and sister-in-law, David W. and Marlene Bailey of Lawsville; nieces and nephews; aunts, Elsie and Doris Jones of Fairdale.

Calling hours were held Monday, August 11, 2014 at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Montrose. Services were held Tuesday morning, August 12, 2014 at the Franklin Forks United Methodist Church, Franklin Forks.
