Matthew Richard VanVelse
Of Greenfield entered peacefully into Heaven January 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 33. Matt was a 1998 Graduate of Beech Grove High School. He spent over 10 years with Heritage Automotive Group as a sales manager. Matt enjoyed both playing and watching sports; especially his favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts. But Matt's biggest love was his family, beloved wife and best friend, Carrie, and his dog, Stella. He cherished the moments he spent with them. He will be remembered for his overwhelming generosity and care for others. He will truly be missed by many.
Matt is survived by his wife Carrie Breanne VanVelse; parents Reginald Patrick VanVelse (Nancy) and Marian Rae Cumbarelis (Stan); brothers Mike Brooking (Danielle) and Mark Brooking (Jenny); sisters Allison and Emilie VanVelse; grandparents Bradford and Donna Fitzpatrick, Eveline VanVelse, Carmen Cumbarelis, and Ralph and Edna Watkins; parents-in-law Brenda and Bryan VanVlynen; his dog Stella Lynn; 6 nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jan VanVelse and Rosemary Fitzpatrick.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 19 from 5 to 9 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East , 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, January 20 at 3 PM with visitation 1 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to IU Simon Cancer Center or to the family c/o Carrie VanVelse.

I worked with Matt at Red Lobster had a drink with him on his 21st birthday he was truely one of the sweetest gentlemen i have ever met.I am so sorry to hear the loss of such an amazing young man. I knew Matt as friend of my son, Corey, when they were young boys. What a wonderful child he was and I understand he grew up to be a wonderful man! My heart goes out to his family. The world's loss but Heaven's gain. Will keep you in my prayers.

My very first memory that I remember is when Allison was born and Reggie told him that they named his sister Allison Noelle and Matt wanted to know how they would spell Allison with no "l". I have laughed alot thinking about that. I will miss Matt! Love to the entire family
