W. Lincoln Christie
89, of Franklin, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Christie was born on October 19, 1923 in Seymour to Walter and Bertha Behrens Christie.
After graduating from Columbus High School he joined the United States Army serving from 1943 to March 1946 in the European theater. Mr. Christie worked at Allison Engine Company in Speedway in the aircraft division for 25 years. He served on the Perry Township School Board for 8 years and was a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church, serving as a Trustee. After retiring from Allison he lived and worked as a real estate broker in Brown County for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and was an avid golfer. He and Carol spent a good deal of their retired winters in Bradenton, Florida.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Christie M.D. and Deborah, Jeff is a cardiologist with the Franciscan Medical Group; and Rex E. Christie and Dawn, Rex is a Machine Repairman for Allison Transmission; there are eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are parents; wife, Carol Ann Case Christie and sister, Joann Gebhard.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. in Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crem atory, Southport Chapel , 7520 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Rest in peace Mr. Christie. what a great man, I met Mr. Christie a few years ago @ the hillview cc. He would come in wed. night for dinner. Loved to see his smile.
