Mildred Beatrice East Gainey
92, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2013. She was born on January 31, 1920, to the late Curtis and Ivy East. Mildred graduated from Martinsville High School in 1940. She was a member of the Garfield Park Church of God in Indianapolis for more than 60 years. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Gainey, to whom she was united in marriage on October 30, 1941. They shared 56 years together. Mildred and William were preceded in death by a son, Michael Howard Gainey. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd East, Clifford East, Edgar East and three sisters, Mable (Fay) Deckard, Beulah Baugh and Norma Payton. Survivors include three children, Karen Sue Roberts (Terry), Monte Keith Gainey, and Tamara Jill Gainey (Gus); three grandchildren, Terri Lynn Myers (Shane), Vicki Sue Caudill, and William Taylor Gainey; four great-grandchildren, Stacia Lynn Myers, Ty Alan Myers, Zachary Allen Caudill, and Dylan Jacob Caudill; three nieces, Ivy Sue East, Joyce Kay Williams and Deborah Dugger; eleven nephews, Bob East, David East, Danny East, Rick East, Mick East, Jack Thacker, Dave Thacker, Bobby J. Gainey, Sam Gainey, Scott Gainey and Chris Gainey. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home , 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington, IN. I knew Mildred through Anne Meyer, her friend and neighbor. She was a very sweet, caring lady. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
