Andrew Shuck Obituary

Andrew William Shuck

41, died Saturday, November 10, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a valiant fight with cancer. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, December 27, 1970, Andrew was preceded in death by his father, William Arthur Shuck, Jr., and his beloved sister, Sara Elizabeth Shuck. Andy was a 1989 graduate of Marion High School, Marion, Indiana, where he was a proud member of the Marion Giants tennis team. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Andy was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, where he served patrolling the Bering Sea. His second posting was Hickman, Kentucky, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, and there his responsibility was maintaining river channels. An avid outdoorsman, Andy was happiest fishing and hunting with his relatives and friends. Andy had been employed at American Woodmark Corporation in Gas City, Indiana, before his illness.

Survivors include his mother, Judith Henderson Reasoner; step-father Garrett Reasoner; his fiancée, Caroline Musser; sister, Lara Shuck Vielee; Schuyler Schmitt; and several adored nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Laurel Hall, 5395 Emerson Way, Indianapolis, at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 15. Friends may visit before the service from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M.

Contributions in his memory in lieu of flowers may be made to the Community Foundation of Grant County, 505 West Third Street, Marion, Indiana, 46952, for the Andy Shuck Memorial Scholarship Fund (benefitting a Marion High School tennis player); to the Lake Nantucket Conservation Fund, 3732 Bay Road South Drive, Indianapolis, IN, 46240; or to the charity of one's choice.
