Pender, George W.*  
George W. Pender 80, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 24, 2015 at his residence. Born January 13, 1935 in Wolf Lake, Illinois, he was the son of the late George and Edith (Leggans) Pender. On September 26, 1953, he married June Holderfield in Nashville, Indiana. George worked as an inspector at Witco - Richardson Rubber Company in Indianapolys for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1991. He attended Pentecostal Power of Praise in Indianapolis. He also supported House of Victory and Jubilee Ful Gospel, and many other churches. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, June; three sons, Time (Angie) Pender, Mike (Donna) Pender, and Stan (Sharon) Pender; two daughters, Vicki (Jimmy) Carr, and Mickey (Eddie) Carr; three brothers, Don, Art, and Adrian Pender; two sisters, Helen Royer and Jhan Miller; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on August 28, 2015 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. S.R. 135, Greenwood, IN, 46143. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. www.forestlawncemetery-fh.com

Pezzullo, Joseph A.*  
Joseph A. Pezzullo 82, of Indianapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 12, 2015. Born September 23, 1932, in New Albany, his career in secondary education spanned 42 years. Joe coached basketball for 12 years in Southern Indiana, and was a teacher and principal in Richmond for 27 years. During that time, he earned a Ph.D and was a family counselor for ten years. Retiring in 1996, Joe and Phyllis moved to Indianapolis to be near family.  Joe enjoyed time spent with grandsons, reading, traveling, golfing and keeping in touch with former classmates and students. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Phyllis (Cooper); son, Joe III; daughter, Beth (Ray) Stapleton; grandsons, Ted Pezzullo, Conner and Grant Stapleton; sister, Gloria Smith; and brother, Barry (Carolyn) Pezzullo. Joe willed his body to IU School of Medicine. Memorial service 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, 6630 Southeastern Ave., 46293 where Joe was a member. Memorials may be given to the church or University of Indianapolis, 1400 E. Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis IN 46209.

Piccione, Betty Jean (Brown)*  
Betty Jean (Brown) Piccione passed away on August 13, 2015 at the age of 81. Born on October 4, 1933 to the late Garvin and Inez (Herzog) Brown in Indianapolis. Betty graduated from Shortridge High School in 1951. She married the late August "Gus" Piccione on December 24, 1953 and they were lifelong residents of Indianapolis. Betty thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and beloved dogs. Travel, gardening, nature hikes and attending musical performances also brought great joy to her life. As an active member and volunteer at Saints Peter & Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis, her faith and catholic beliefs were an important part of her daily life. For many years Betty was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. She leaves of us with an abundance of wonderful memories of family gatherings, vacations to the beach, ice skating at the Coliseum, scouting excursions, picnics, and lazy summer days of swimming at the Riviera Club. Betty worked part time for a number of years while raising her family and later resumed a successful full time career in accounting. She began her accounting career working for the Churchman Steel Company and then at the Ferguson Steel Company, where she ultimately retired in 2000. Betty is survived by her daughter, Michelle Piccione-Soultz (Kevin Soultz) and grandson, Andrew Soultz; her son, Steven Piccione (Heather); and her grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, and Elliott. A gathering for family and friends from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Pickett, Otis W. "Pete"*  
Otis W. "Pete" Pickett 94, passed away in Bradenton, Florida on Monday, August 24, 2015, where he had resided since 2006. Otis was born and raised in the Indianapolis area. During WWII, Otis proudly served his country in the US Navy. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) and was aboard during the kamikaze attack of March 19, 1945. In 1959, Pete founded Precision Balancing Company in Indianapolis. The company would later be owned and operated by his son, Robert Pickett, and currently by the third generation of the Pickett family, his grandson, Joseph Pickett. Otis is survived by his son, Robert (Sandra) Pickett of Indianapolis; his daughter, Patricia Pickett Lindstrand; 3 grandchildren, Steven (Mary) Pickett, Joseph (Lisa) Pickett and Charlene (Richard) Jones; and 6 great-grandchildren. Otis was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Julia Plew Pickett. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th Street, Sheridan, Indiana 46069, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.
