Alice J. Gerlach

80, Indianapolis, passed away July 16, 2013. Alice was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 16, 1933 to parents, Denby and Kathryn (Brooner) Gerlach. Alice graduated from Shortridge High School. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Miami University of Ohio and held a Master's Degree from Yale University.

She held executive positions at the American Field Service, Business and Professional Women's Assn., WETA public radio, and Day Nursery. In the community, she volunteered her time at both WFYI public radio and taught reading to adults. She loved to read, watch movies, attend the symphony, and plays at the IRT. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, and will be lovingly missed by her sister, Sara Sarno; brother, James Gerlach; niece, Amy Sarno and nephew, Byron Gerlach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WFYI Indianapolis. Private graveside services will be held in Dale, Indiana. Arrangements: Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple .
