Alicia Garcia

April 23 1936 - January 29, 2014

Resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, lived in Alameda, CA her last two years. Born in Bogota, Colombia to the late Gerardo and Carlina Hernandez, Alicia Garcia, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family at the age of 77.

Preceded in death by her husband, Hernando Garcia, Alicia was a loving mother to Patricia Garcia, Alicia Garcia-Paul, Harold Alberto Garcia and Suzanne Garcia-Misa; mother-in-law to Mark Paul, Alicia K. Garcia, Ernesto Misa Jr.; grandmother of Erin and Gina Hearn, Carmen and Nicole Paul, Micki Felix, Garik Walters, Antonio, Elijah, Quinn Garcia, Annabella and Makani Misa; great-grandmother of Xaviato Felix and Aiden Katona. Sister to Alvaro Hernandez, Rosario Ojeda, Martha Hernandez and Luis Hernandez, sister to the late Humberto Hernandez, and Inez Perez.

Alicia graduated from Purdue University in 1983 with a Computer Science degree and worked in the field for 35 years. She spent all her life contributing to charities and was an avid runner who ran in the Indy 500 Mini Marathon for 15 years.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on February 10, 2014 at Saint Matthews Catholic Church 4100 E. 56th St. Indianapolis, Indiana. Viewing begins at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be held in Calvary Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, Alicia would like donations to be made to The Wellness Community of Indiana.
