David Early Lesh, Sr.

Died peacefully at his family home on Burt Lake, MI Friday morning, June 21st surrounded by his family. The second son of Fred and Nancy (Early) Lesh, David was born on April 25th, 1953. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. His career as a freelance illustrator brought him international recognition for his unique approach to problem solving for client's such as Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Texas Instruments, Newsweek, and many others. In a career that spanned over thirty-five years, his artistic style remains unique in the illustration world and it will be missed in this age of computerized art. Working from home enabled him to be extremely active in his sons' lives. Coaching soccer, leading the local Boy Scout Troop, monthly camping trips, summer canoe voyages in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, and yearly ski trips to Colorado provided countless memories for his sons.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vicki, his two sons, David (Cacia) of Petoskey, Joe of Mammoth Lakes, CA; his father, Fred of Indianapolis IN, and his younger brother Perry (Rosemary) of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy, and his older brother Rick.

A memorial mass celebrating David's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Fr. Chris Waddleton will celebrate the mass.
