Donald K. Royer
89, of Rocky Ripple, died on December 10, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis to Lennel and Margaret Pearl Royer on November 10, 1923. He was a proud veteran, serving in the 45th Army Infantry Division Thunderbirds. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart. He was married on July 23, 1948 to Marjorie Ross for sixty one years until her passing in 2010. Don was a tool hardener for Link Belt for 42 years. Don also worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Safety Patrol yellow shirts for over 20 years. He was an accomplished woodworker, who never met a stranger. He was a great story teller and very generous. He loved fishing and bowling and achieved a perfect 300 score. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His survivors include daughter, Debra (Kim) Herrmann; grandson, Tyler Mendenhall; granddaughter, Valerie Cavanaugh; great granddaughter, Lilah Cavanaugh; step grandchildren, Adam (Dahian) Herrmann and Andrew (Lori) Herrmann; and step great grandchildren, Cassidy and Finn Herrmann. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, December 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel . Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, December 13th at 1:00 p.m. also in the mortuary.
