Fred A. Guthrie

Fred Albert Guthrie, Sr.

69, passed away March 10th, 2014. He was born June 30th, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Clyde and Helen Guthrie, but lived his entire life in Indianapolis. Fred was a proud graduate of Arsenal Tech H.S. and received his Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from IUPUI while he worked full time for General Motors Allison Transmission for 35 years, and finishing his career working for Rolls Royce.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn; his brother, Don and his wife Joannie; his sons, Fred Jr, Tom and his wife Heather. He is also survived by his grandchildren who he adored, Sophie, Abbie, Mollie, Zachary, Madison, Samantha, Brooke and Bradley.

After his retirement, Fred filled his time giving to organizations that mirrored his selfless approach to life, such as the Tuesday Crew at the Belzer Boy Scout Camp. He also was an active member of the Masonic Lodge that stressed his active community spirit. Fred will be loved and missed by not only his family, but also the many friends and contacts he had made through his years. He will be fondly remembered for his giving spirit and generous nature. Visitation and funeral services will occur at the Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery. Visitation services will occur on Friday, March 14th from 4 pm to 8 pm and the funeral services will be on Saturday the 15th at 11 am.
