Gary Charles Fogle

On October 30, 2013 Gary Charles Fogle, age 78 of Indianapolis, went home to the Lord. Gary was born to the late George P. and Elizabeth (Schulties) Fogle on May 16, 1935 in Akron, Ohio and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa. He attended St. John the Baptist School and matriculated to Central Catholic High School. He graduated from Central Catholic in 1953 then proceeded to Duquesne University where he was on the Dean's List; was secretary and president of Kappa Sigma Phi; served on the student government council for two years; and was treasurer of the honorary business fraternity for two years. Gary graduated in 1957 with a major degree in accounting, numerous credits in philosophy and was named in Who's Who among College and University Students.

Subsequent to graduation, he joined the firm of Deloitte & Touche (formerly Haskins and Sells), working from June to November 1957 when he entered active duty in the U.S. Air Force. His time in the Air Force was spent as a First Lieutenant and the Auditor of Generals Office in Philadelphia. He was then transferred to Karamsel in Turkey as an Internal Auditor.

Gary returned to the United States and Deloitte in September 1960 and resumed his career. He passed his CPA exam in its entirety in November 1962 after completing the requisite 18-months with a CPA firm. He proceeded with his career and in 1970 was transferred to the Indianapolis office and became a partner in May 1973. He spent the next 23 years in various positions with the firm and retired in May 1995. He then took employment as the CFO of the Christian Theological Seminary where he worked until June 1999.

Gary was a member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club for 25 years; Highland Golf and Country Club for 40 years; The Gyro of Indianapolis for 18 years; and St. Luke Catholic Church where he sang in the choir for 30 years. He served on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army Indiana Division for 22 years and served in various positions at Society of St. Vincent DePaul for 22 years.

Gary was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Maureen Patricia (Miller) Fogle and sister, Roseann Fogle. He is survived by his three children, Kathryn Ann Fogle (James Robert Voelkel), Gary Paul Fogle (Nancy Lugar Fogle), Peter Miller Fogle (Dawn Alexander Fogle); and four grandchildren, Noah Robert Voelkel, Pauli Maureen Voelkel, Ryan George Fogle and Brady Miller Fogle.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel , 740 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240. A mass will be held on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Dr. E., Indianapolis, IN 46240.
