Greg Givens

38, died on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital due to complications of a liver disease. Greg was born April 28, 1975, to Jane Prible Givens and Stephen Givens in Richmond, Indiana.

Greg graduated from Richmond High School, where he was an avid swimmer and golfer. Greg made a hole-in-one at the IHSAA State Golf Championship in 1993, after which June 25, 1993, was declared Greg "Hole-In-One" Givens day in Richmond.

Greg attended Indiana University and Ball State University, graduating from the latter with Bachelor's of Architecture and Bachelor's of Science degrees. While at Ball State Greg met and married Cortney Rowe on January 3, 1998.

Greg was a friend to many and always happy to lend a helping hand. Greg was a talented wood craftsman who enjoyed using his skills to help his family.

The joy of Greg's life was his sons, Griffith, age 11, and Moses, age 8. Griffith and Moses will not find a better friend and playmate than Greg.

Greg was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Greg is survived by his wife and sons of Jasonville, Indiana; his mother of Greenwood, Indiana; his sister, Stephanie Shirley and husband Kenneth and children Jacob and Noah, all of Orange, Virginia; his father- and mother-in-law John and Debi Rowe of Worthington, Indiana; and his brothers-in-law Lucas Rowe, and Jess Rowe of Jasonville, Indiana.

Services are entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, with visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m.

Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, with Mark Messmer officiating.
