Jerry Lee Bass
Born July 23, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN.
Jerry died on November 9, 2012 in Las Vegas after fighting cancer. He is survived by is wife, Caroline Preston Bass; son, Edwin James Bass, Stephen Brodie Bass; daughter-in-law Brandi Bass; grandchildren, Breece, Breanne and Broderick Bass; daughter, Angeline Rene Young and son-in-law Chris Young. Jerry graduated from Greenwood High School and was in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969.
Jerry's career was with Eli Lilly; ABC Indianapolis Morning News Interpreter; Director of Deaf Community Services, a United Way affiliate. He was a Nationally Certified American Sign Language Interpreter and owner of Preston Bass Interpreting Services in Las Vegas.
His professional services included Indiana Board of Interpreter Standards; Past President of Indiana and Nevada Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and National Ethical Practices Committee of RID. He held memberships in National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf; Nevada Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf; Children of Deaf Adults; National Association of the Deaf and Nevada Association of the Deaf.
His special interests included golf, poker and movies and family.
A celebration of his life will be held on December 16 at
1 p.m. at the Greater Indianapolis Deaf Club, 1917 E. 46th St.
