Joanne Patricia Hequembourg Boyd
70, passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, California early Tuesday morning, April 23, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 26, 1942 in Glen Ridge, NJ. Her parents were Jerome Eastman Hequembourg, Sr. and Elisabeth Anna (Anne) Wien Hequembourg. Joanne attended schools in West Caldwell, NJ and graduated from Wachusett High School in Holden, Massachusetts in 1960. In 1964, she graduated from Wellesley College, where she studied mathematics and participated in crew and carillon playing. She worked for State Street Bank, Boston, before marrying Donald Bradford Boyd at the Harvard University chapel, Cambridge, Mass. in 1965. After a year in Ithaca, NY, the Boyds moved to Indianapolis and later Greenwood, Indiana.
Joanne lovingly filled her life as a housewife and mother. No mother was ever more dedicated and caring. She was active as a parent volunteer in the Perry Township and Greenwood school districts that her children attended. Joanne was also a devoted and active member of the Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist of Indianapolis, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, playing piano and organ, and serving in leadership and numerous other volunteer positions. After her children were older, she was a regular and favorite substitute teacher in Whiteland and Center Grove schools of Johnson County.
Surviving besides her husband are their beloved children, Susanne Esquivel (Andy), Cynthia Leber (Rich), and Douglas Boyd (Mary); as well as five beautiful and precocious grandchildren, Drew, Elisabeth, Emma, Richie, and Becky. Also surviving are her brother, Jerome Hequembourg, Jr. (Diane); and other cherished family and friends.
